ABOUT DAISY…OFFICIALLY… *
Daisy Elizeth Magallanes (She/They) is the proud Chicana daughter of migrant parents, Emerita and Ramiro Magallanes, from the sacred Caxcan land of Tlaltenango, Zacatecas, México. She is a writer, translator, and educator whose work has been featured in Acid Verse Literary Journal, Brevity, the Black Warrior Review, Brooklyn & Boyle, Huizache, & Hypertext Review. Their poetry has been internationally recognized and exhibited in CDMX. They have received a Puschcart nomination for their short fiction, “Rapid Eye Movement,” published in the Hypertext Review. They are the managing editor for the literary magazine, Huizache, which advocates for and platforms the new literary vanguard. Magallanes received their MFA from Calarts, and are based in Los Angeles where she was born and raised.
When they are not writing she can be found sorting through archives, watching surrealist and dadaist films, and (or) dancing to Kate Bush with her cat, Donald Barthelme. She is influenced by the works of Cortázar, Barthelme, Dueñas, Dávila, Tzara, Storni, Unamuno, Mills, Moraga, to name a few.
